Is there a charge for this service?
No. It's free for homeowners. Basement Waterproofing Blaine is paid by the contractors it refers.
Are you a waterproofing company?
No. We're a referral service that connects you with an independent local contractor. They do the inspection, estimate and work, and you contract with them.
When will I hear back?
Usually the same business day. If water is coming in or your pump has quit, call rather than filling out the form.
How do I know the contractor is licensed?
Ask for their Minnesota license number and proof of insurance and check the license with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
Who sees my information?
One contractor who serves your area. We don't send your request to multiple companies. See our privacy policy.
Battery or water-powered backup?
Battery backups work anywhere but need their battery replaced every few years. Water-powered backups need no battery but require city water and use water while they run. Our guide compares them.
How often should I test my pump?
Every spring before melt, and before any big storm forecast. Pour water into the basin and watch it turn on and shut off.
Why does my sump pump run so much?
In high water table areas, groundwater keeps refilling the basin all spring. Constant running is normal there, but it wears pumps out faster and makes a backup essential.
Will a dehumidifier fix a leak?
No. If water is coming in, that needs to be fixed first. A dehumidifier handles damp air, not leaks.
Why not just use a portable unit?
Portables work for small spaces but often struggle in a full basement, and they need emptying unless drained. Whole-basement units are built to run all season.
